Results for ACC 2009 Awards
Attenborough’s annual presentation evening was held on Saturday October 3rd. Awards on the evening went to the following recipients:
Saturday 1st XI Batting: Alec McKinlay
Alec wins the award for the 3rd year running by scoring 684 Premier League runs at an average of 40.24, including 6 half centuries and a superb 101* against Wollaton.
Saturday 1st XI Bowling: Tom Murray
Tom wins the bowling prize for the 1st time, taking 29 Premier League wickets at an average of 23.48. Best figures were 4 for 25 against Papplewick.
Saturday 2nd XI Batting: Ian Baddeley
Ian takes the 2nd XI batting award having scored 284 runs from 14 innings at an average of 20.29, with a highest score of 60 against Bramcote.
Saturday 2nd XI Bowling: Carl Whelan
Veteran skipper Carl wins the 2nd XI bowling prize by taking 34 wickets during the course of the season at an average of 16.47.
Saturday 3rd XI Batting: Callum Taylor
Cal wins the award for the 1st time, toping the averages with 288 runs at 36.00. The highlight performance was a knock of 86* against Wilsons in July.
Saturday 3rd XI Bowling: Colin McConnell
Team captain McConnell took 18 wickets in 2008 at an average of 13.70 to win the trophy, including 2 five-wicket hauls.
Saturday 4th XI Batting: Carl Knight
Carl wins the 4th team batting award having scored 302 runs at 30.20, including a highest score of 83*.
Saturday 4th XI Bowling: Matt Ahluwalia
Competition was fierce for this trophy, with Matt narrowly edging out Jacob Conners having taken 19 wickets for the 4th XI at just 7.84.
Sunday 1st XI Batting: Martin Shoemaker
Shoey wins the trophy for the first time, scoring 246 runs at an average of 35.14.
Sunday 1st XI Bowling: James Hallam
James took 20 wickets for the side in 2009 at an average of 18.40, including a hat-trick against Notts Unity in August.
Sunday 2nd XI Batting: Allan Moss
Big Al wins the 2nd XI batting prize, amassing 231 runs at 46.20. Scores of 72*, 89 and 61 helped him easily top the averages.
Sunday 2nd XI Bowling: Mark Bateman
Mark narrowly edged out his brother Pete to win this trophy, taking 21 wickets at 18.05, including a best of 6 for 29.
Senior Colt’s Player: Callum Taylor
Cal was awarded the Senior Colt’s trophy after making valuable contributions thoughout the season for the Under 15s, Sunday 1st and 2nd teams, and the Saturday 3rds, for whom he topped the batting averages.
Club All-Rounder: Tom Murray
29 wickets and 290 runs for the 1st XI in the Premier League saw Tom named club all-rounder for the 1st time.
Sixes Tankard: Alec McKinlay
Macka again wins the Tankard by a wide margin.
Best Performance: Saturday 1st XI
For the significant achievement for maintaining their Premier League status for another season, the club’s Saturday 1st XI are awarded the prize on a team basis.
Clubman Of The Year: Andrew Simkiss
Chairman’s Cup: John Birkin
